Calgary Community Parks Fire Pits Smaller residential-style fire pits have been set up at select community parks across the city. These are free-to-use from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and weekends, but priority will be given to those who book the fire pits with a permit. Use of our fire pits is subject to any fire bans. Penguin Walk is Back for 2021! 2021 marks the 9th year of the Calgary Zoo Penguin Walk! The king penguin colony heads out on zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk in the winter months to keep their brains and bodies healthy and visitors get to experience the fun! This incredible program allows visitors to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins and is subject to weather conditions* and animal inclination. This exhibition of 55 photographs, taken by local photographer Neil Zeller during the pandemic lockdown, is a selection from the more than 650 families he photographed. Heritage Park Winter 2021 In the ongoing effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, we continue to comply with Provincial guidelines and do what we can to keep our visitors, employees and volunteers healthy. Gasoline Alley Museum will remain closed at this time. The Railway Cafe is open daily from 10am-4pm for take-out only. The Selkirk restaurant is open for curbside pickup only, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The Haskayne Mercantile Block shops and Harvey’s Confectionery remain open daily at 15% capacity.
