Beddington Heights community is located in Calgary’s northwest and is one of Calgary’s largest communities with a population of over 11500. It was originally a Canadian Pacific Railway Station named after the Town of Beddington in Surrey, England. The area was annexed by the city in 1975. The community sports two shopping centres, both located along Centre Street. The community has easy access to Nose Hill Park, which is located directly to the West. Both a separate and a public school are located within the community.
Beddington Heights Community Association is a resident’s association in place to facilitate a community-city partnership. It is the avenue for the residents to have a collective voice. The BHCA operates a Before and After School Program (BASP) that has been in operation since 1986. It offers affordable childcare to Beddington Heights and surrounding communities through the school year, and summer camp between school years. The Association is comprised fully of volunteers from Beddington Heights and surrounding communities.
To meet the needs of its high population, Beddington Heights has a large and active community centre which is now operated by CCTL, Calgary Community Theatre Ltd. Calgary Community Theatre Ltd (CCTL) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the renovation and management of the now renamed, Beddington Heights Community Arts Centre, intended to be the home for 2 of Calgary’s longest running community theatre companies, StoryBook Theatre and Front Row Centre Players while still maintaining access to the community.
