Lakeview is a residential community in the southwestern quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Nestled between Glenmore Trail SW and Crowchild Trail SW to 37th Street SW, the western city limits at this point. The Tsuu T’ina Nation Indian reserve borders it to the west.
Residences south of 66th Avenue are part of a smaller development named Lakeview Village, which features larger, more expensive homes. East of Crowchild Trail SW with the Earl Grey Golf Course, Longridge Drive and 50th Ave SW, North Glenmore Park is often mistakenly referred to as Lakeview. Built in 1960. The Calgary Rowing Club and Calgary Canoe Club are located in the south of the community, adjacent to Glenmore Reservoir. Numerous hiking and cycling trails are maintained on the shores of the Reservoir, between the Weaselhead flats and Glenmore Trail.
The Lakeview community association is active within the community. The community hall, which consists of a main hall as well as a number of smaller meeting rooms, hosts a number of groups, including Sparks, Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders. Quilting, arts and crafts, and martial arts are a few of the other activities that take place at the hall. Bridge is also popular in the community, with the Bridge club meeting a number of afternoons and evenings each week. The community association also maintains a pleasure skating rink each winter, and its summer soccer program is extremely popular. The community preschool is also well attended. An excellent playground facility is located nearby the hall, and contains climbers, swings, slides, rocking riders, and spinners. Lakeview also hosts a number of special events each year, including family fun day, which includes a climbing wall, origami, sidewalk chalk drawing, baked goods, and crafts and live music. The community association is also continually working on new projects. Two currently in the works are a “Moves in Rhythm” program, based on Tai Chi, and a Knit, Pearl, Relax knitting class.
