Meadowlark Park Community Background

Meadowlark-Park-CommunityMeadowlark Park is located in southwest Calgary near the intersection of Glenmore Trail and Elbow Drive. It was annexed to the City of Calgary during the late 1950s and developed around the same time. Approximately half of the community, the area west of 5th Street, has residential developments along curvilinear streets. The area east of 5th Street, however, has commercial developments – mainly Chinook Shopping Centre. Both Elbow Drive and MacLeod Trail provide direct access to the Downtown, which is approximately 6 kilometres north of the community.

Meadowlark Park Community Association

Meadowlark-Park-Community-HThe Meadowlark Park Community Association is made up of a number of volunteers who work in the interests of the residents of Meadowlark Park. These volunteers work hard, in addition to their regular daily activities, to ensure that Meadowlark remains an excellent place to live. From the operation and maintenance of the community hall to political representation at all levels, we do our best to protect and properly represent the community of Meadowlark Park. Why? Because we realize that our community is more than just a bunch of houses – it’s people, and the place those people call home.

We are proud to work regularly with City departments to ensure that the needs and rights of Meadowlarkers are respected and protected. Meadowlark is an excellent place to live. We are central in the city, with good traffic and Transit access right on our doorstep – access that’s only improving as the massive Glenmore/Elbow/5th Street (GE5) project comes to a close. Also, we have Chinook Centre as a valued neighbour, giving us the option to be green – to walk to do most of our shopping – and we are the envy of many neighbourhoods for these very reasons. Yes, we are hidden, but we’re also accessible – in all the best possible ways.

But there’s one thing to remember: we on the executive are also Meadowlark Park residents! What affects you affects us, so let us know your concerns so that we can continue our efforts to represent you to the best of our ability. Also, if you have a project in mind – for beautification, maintenance, or for a social function – let us know. A community is what its residents make it; you get out what you put in.
